Nowadays, it’s very important to ensure that your child’s eyes are always in healthy condition. Children tend to be very impressionable and can become easily susceptible to illnesses if they’re not given proper care. Below are some tips from Dr David Stager that you should follow to keep your kids away from eye problems.
Keep Your Kids Away From Tablet And Smartphones
If you want to keep your kids’ eyes healthy, you should limit their exposure to tablets and smartphones. These devices emit a blue light that can cause eye strain and fatigue.
In the long run, it can also lead to macular degeneration in children’s eyesight. The best thing you can do here is take away their phone or tablet, and make sure they spend less time looking at screens altogether!
Ensure That They Get Healthy Eyesight By Eating The Right Foods
Make sure that your child will always eat healthy foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and fish. Whole grains are good for you too, but serve them in moderation in your kids’ meals! Aside from that, don’t let your kids eat too much salt (sodium), sugar, or fat, as these things will make it harder for eyes to see clearly by causing them to become inflamed or watery in some cases.
Let Them Play Outside In The Sunlight – But With Proper Protection
One way to ensure your child has healthy eyesight is by exposing them to UVA and UVB rays. However, if you don’t use sunscreen that offers both UVA and UVB protection (or at least SPF 30), then you’re doing more harm than good by letting them spend time outdoors.
Sunscreen isn’t just something adults should be putting on their faces before going out into the sun. Using it is also very important for your kids who want healthy eyesight as well!
It takes only 10 minutes of unprotected exposure for damage from UV radiation to occur on our skin cells – so you must use sunscreen whenever you are outside for extended periods of time (or even just taking an afternoon walk).
