Eat a Healthy, Balanced Diet
A healthy, balanced diet is essential for maintaining physical health. A good diet will help you to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, plenty of fiber, and wholegrain foods (such as brown rice, pasta, and whole meal bread) which are high in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, as well as avoid saturated fats and sugar as much as possible.
Make Time for Regular Exercise
It’s not just about how much exercise you do, but also what kind of exercise you choose. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity such as brisk walking or biking.
Strength training exercises are also recommended two or more days per week to maintain muscle mass as you age–and they don’t have to be done at the gym!
Drink Plenty of Fluids
And lastly, if you are exercising for more than an hour, then you must consider drinking a well-known and highly recommended sports drink instead of plain water. That’s because it provides electrolytes (minerals such as sodium and potassium) that help maintain hydration levels in the body.
Also, avoid alcohol before or during exercise because Dr Bruce Grossinger it can cause dehydration and decrease your performance level. Alcohol also slows down muscle recovery time after workouts by reducing blood flow to muscles and increasing lactic acid production (which makes them feel sore).
